Jesus said, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled" (Matthew 5:6, NKJV).
Undoubtedly, we must diligently feed on God's Word. As Job proclaimed, "I have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food" (Job 23:12, NKJV). And believe me, fasting allows you many opportunities to diligently seek the Lord!
• You must diligently seek Him when everyone else is going out to the movies, drinking sodas, and eating popcorn, and you choose to stay home to be with the Lord because you want to hear from Him.
• Diligently seeking Him through fasting happens in the morning when everyone else gets up and enjoys breakfast while you choose to spend time with God.
• It comes when you're at work, and everyone else is having burgers, fries, and ice cream for lunch, but you are drinking bottled water!
To be diligent is to be persistent. And according to Hebrews 11:6, God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. He has already laid up rewards for you in Heaven. The key is to seek Him!
