2 Kings 7:3 (NKJV)“Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate; and they said to one another, “Why are we sitting here until we die?”

Devotion
2 Kings 7:3-16 tells a story of four lepers who, out of desperation, realized they were going to starve to death if they didn’t do something (vv 3-4). They risked their lives to go to the enemy camp in search for food, only to find that God had already delivered them from their enemy (vv5-7). After feasting on the food and enjoying the spoils that were left behind, they were convicted to tell others what God had done. By sharing the good news, the people rejoiced and also took from the spoils (vv 8-16). We can apply this story to us today as we seek God while fasting.
Why stay in a place where nothing will change? Allowing yourself to be driven by a hunger for change compels you to seek more of God. If your spirit is not continually moving towards God, you become stagnant, which is a slow death for your spirit. Continually seek Him and crave His righteousness (Matthew 5:6; 6:33, NKJV).
Give God your stomach. Wrong appetites crave instant gratification and distract us from getting closer to God, but submitting our will over to Him revives our spirits (James 4:7-8, 10, NKJV). Let God use your hunger during this fast to desperately seek Him for a miracle. By constantly trading our flesh for God’s presence, we invite His supernatural blessings to invade our lives. Then, when your fast is over and you experience the miracle that awaited you, tell others about what God has done.
Today’s Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for reminding us through the story of the four lepers that change begins with action and faith. Stir up a holy hunger within us that drives us to seek more of You, even when circumstances seem dire. As we fast, help us to lay aside our fleshly desires and align our will with Yours. Use our desperation for Your glory and transform it into testimonies of Your faithfulness. In the Name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Apply It Today
Evaluate areas in your life where you feel spiritually stagnant or stuck. Ask yourself, "Why am I sitting here until I die?" Just as the lepers took a bold step of faith, take a practical step toward God today. This could mean dedicating more time to prayer, worship, or studying His Word.
